The Sami and Salwa show animation

This was an animation that was to be made for a kids show on the Islam Channel about hygiene and cleanliness which was being developed by myself and two other people, (a writer/illustrator and an animator).
I produced all the final illustration and character designs after being given a brief description of them from the script writer. The illustrations had to then be passed on to the animator who put them together for the animation.
Unfortunately due to a lack of funding this project fell through and the animation was left unfinished. The animator did work on it briefly and the video above shows how the basic animation would have looked. We didn't get to do the sound stage so there won't be any sound to it- (no need to adjust your volume control, lol). we had only worked on this project for about 3-4 weeks so didn't get very far in it especially as we all had to communicate only through email and phone.
ps. don't know why the video quality is messed up at the start when uploaded here- seems fine on my PC. :p

This is the background design i came up with for the fish. It would be an underwater scene so I kept it quite simple and colourful so the animator could alos animate somee bubbles and water movement in front of it.

I also had to create a design for a fish that would appear in one of the scenes. I decided to create a fish that walks upright like humans to give it some character as it would also have a scene where the fish talks.

I also had to create a background for the cat to appear in so came up with this simple fish wallpapered design and a basket for where the cat lives. The aim was to keep it quite simple so that other things could be added later if necessary.

This cat design was for a scene futher on in the animation for when there would be a poem and the cat scene would come in.

The other main character was the squirrel called Salwa. I was given a specification of how the clien wanted the character to look and this was the result. As it is aimed at small children it had to look cute and friendly.

The background design I created of the kitchen where the first scene would be set and include the character of sami and salwa in it.

I had to make sure each section was seperate so that the animator could easily make him move and change positions when animating him.
